Recently, our West Palm Beach elder abuse attorney was interviewed in an outrageous case of elder neglect involving a South Florida assisted living facility. The case involves an elderly resident with dementia who was able to elope from the facility (wander off without assistance). The resident was missing for hours and was eventually discovered bleeding on the roadside. Unfortunately, the resident did not recover from her injuries.
Prior to her wandering away from the facility, this resident fell many times. The staff did not respond appropriately and she continued to hurt herself in the facility. The elopement was inevitable due to the ALF's lack of action. Currently, we have filed a Motion for Punitive Damages against the ALF, due to the Defendants pre-incident and post-incident behavior.
